Shoebox Tour America 2009 marks its 4th anniversary with its first everstop in Rochester. Past tours have
visited Ireland, Finland, Sweden, Japan, Iceland, and Canada. Each tour unites a unique cast for a once in a lifetime experience.The name Shoebox Tour (SBT) refers to the smaller size venues visited in locations straying off the beaten path. The tour was born out of a reaction against modern day corporate show business where the focus is more on the business of making money than on the content of the show. SBT endeavours to bring contemporary Nordic circus to audiences that normally don’t have access to such esoteric art forms.

The 2009 edition includes an original live electronic musicscore, which accompanies manipulations of an eclectic mix of objects- hoops, rings, strings, ropes, shoehorns, buckets, trash bags, teabags, springs, peacock feathers, Japanese fans, and evenexploding spheres! This performance is strictly one night only. The performers will be giving a special show by invitation at the International Jugglers’ Association Festival in Winston-Salem before visiting Rochester and continuing the tour to Pittsburgh with several other dates around the East coast.
